Forest Products Association of Canada Commends Government's Decision to Limit
Employment Insurance
OTTAWA, Sept. 30 /CNW/ - The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) today commended the Canadian government on its decision to limit Employment Insurance (EI) premiums increases until the economy's recovery is steady and robust.
"We welcome today's announcement by Minister Flaherty," said Avrim Lazar, President and CEO of FPAC. "The move to limit EI premium increases now gives our industry the certainty we need to plan for the economic recovery and help keeps costs manageable. Reducing payroll taxes always helps get more people on the payroll, and is good for business," Lazar added.
FPAC also welcomed Minister Flaherty's offer to work with Canadian businesses on improving the EI rate setting mechanism.
The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) provides a voice for Canada's wood, pulp, and paper producers nationally and internationally in government, trade, and environmental affairs.
