TORONTO, June 18, 2013 /CNW/ - Over 140 golfers hit the green today for ForestersTM Annual Golf Tournament at the DiamondBack Golf Club in Richmond Hill, raising $100,000 for The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in support of children's health. Foresters, a life insurance provider committed to the well-being of families, is a long-time supporter of children's hospitals through its partnership with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals™ (CMN Hospitals), a charity that raises funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals across Canada and the United States.
"Foresters purpose is to champion the well-being of families," said George Mohacsi, President and Chief Executive Officer, Foresters. "By raising funds for SickKids, we are able to help them improve care for patients and their families during a difficult time. I am very grateful to our co-presenting sponsors, MajescoMastek™ and CGI, and all of today's participants for helping make this event a great success."
The tournament drew teams of Foresters business partners, employees and sales associates.
A member of CMN Hospitals, SickKids is one of the world's foremost pediatric health-care institutions and the largest centre dedicated to improving children's health in Canada. Philanthropy is a critical source of funding for the hospital and helps them continue to innovate and provide the best in family-centered care.
"We are proud of our long-standing partnership with Foresters and are incredibly grateful for their support in helping us do the lifesaving work we do every day," says Ted Garrard, President and CEO, SickKids Foundation. "We are thrilled that they are donating all proceeds raised from their golf tournament to SickKids. Their commitment to children's health will truly make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families."
Since 1990, Foresters has helped raise more than half a billion dollars for local children's hospitals across North America through its partnership with CMN Hospitals. As the Founding Sponsor and International Underwriter of the Radiothon program, Foresters helps pay for the costs associated with the Radiothon, allowing donations to go directly to hospitals caring for patients.
