Foresters Annual Golf Tournament tees up to raise $100,000 for SickKids
TORONTO, June 19, 2012 /CNW/ - 132 golfers hit the links yesterday at the ForestersTM Annual Golf Tournament raising approximately $100,000 for The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Foresters, a life insurance provider committed to the well-being of families, has been a long-time supporter of children's hospitals.
"Children's hospitals provide the extraordinary care, support and resources families need when they have a child who is ill," said George Mohacsi, Foresters President and Chief Executive Officer. "Funds raised during our Annual Golf Tournament go directly to support the hospital. We're grateful for the generosity of our co-sponsors CGI and Majesto Mastek and all the participants for their contribution to SickKids."
Yesterday's tournament held at the DiamondBack Golf Club in Richmond Hill, ON included teams from businesses across the Greater Toronto Area, corporate sponsors, and Foresters employees.
"On behalf of everyone at SickKids, we are grateful for Foresters' ongoing support and investment in children's health," said Ted Garrard, President and CEO, SickKids Foundation. "The funds raised through activities like these benefit children and families who rely on the hospital for life-saving treatment and care."
A member of Children's Miracle Network, SickKids is dedicated to improving the health of children and providing the best in family-centred care. With corporate and community support, SickKids can continue to be a world-leader in scientific and clinical advancements, guiding the next generation of experts in children's health.
"Coping with an ill child often impacts the entire family. Beyond medical care, they may need help caring for their other children, counseling, or just simple compassion," said Peter Sweers, Senior Vice President and Chief Operations and Information Officer. "We're thrilled with the outstanding support from our sponsors and participants that will help children get the health care they deserve."
Since 1990, Foresters has helped raise more than $490 million for local children's hospitals across North America through its partnership with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. As the international underwriter of the CMN Radiothon program, Foresters helps pay for the costs allowing donations to go directly to hospitals caring for its patients.
