Forestry union says Premier Williams will be missed
OTTAWA, Nov. 25 /CNW/ - The president of Canada's largest forestry union says Premier Danny Williams is "a rare politician who will be missed for his courage in taking on large corporations to ensure that workers get what they are owed."
"Premier Williams took some bold and courageous moves to ensure that workers at the AbitibiBowater mill in Grand Falls received their severance pay when the company fell into bankruptcy," says Communications, Energy and Paperworkers President Dave Coles.
"No other premier in recent memory has stepped up to the plate the way he did to seize Crown assets back from the clutches of big business."
"Heads of government who take real action to stand up for workers are few and far between, and he will be missed for that."
