Former staff director of the Canadian Teachers' Federation to receive
international award

OTTAWA , Oct. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) is pleased that one of its former employees was honored with the prestigious "Ordre des francophones d'Amérique" award at a special ceremony in the city Québec, Sept. 30 . CTF nominated Liliane Vincent in recognition of her lifelong work championing the cause of Francophone education in minority settings in Canada . Vincent retired as Director of Services to Francophones in 2007.

"We truly believe Liliane merits this honour due to her vision, dedication and diligent work towards a stronger Francophone identity in Canada ," explains CTF President Mary-Lou Donnelly. "Her attention to details without taking her eyes off the bigger picture have been her trademark throughout her career", referring to the native of Sudbury, Ontario, who established the CTF Translation Services as the Federation's first translator in 1977. Vincent also connected translators in the field of education as founding president of the Network of Translators in Education.

In 2000, she became the director of Services to Francophones, leading the Federation's work, research and projects related to Francophone education throughout Canada .

"Through her professional competence, Liliane has built the Federation's profile as a leader in Francophone education in minority settings. We are delighted to see her receive this highly coveted award," concludes the President.

Every year, the "Ordre des francophones d'Amérique" honors individuals who have devoted their career to promoting the French language throughout America (http://www.cslf.gouv.qc.ca/prix-et-distinctions/ordre-des-francophones-damerique/). Previous award recipients include Guy Matte , former president of the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO).

CTF is the national bilingual organization of nearly 200,000 teachers across Canada .
