CALGARY, Dec. 3 /CNW/ - Fort Chicago Energy Partners L.P. ("Fort Chicago") announced that approximately 8% of shippers on the Alliance Pipeline system, a 50% controlled joint venture, have elected to extend their existing commercial contracts from December 1, 2015 to at least December 1, 2016. These shippers retain the option to continue to extend their capacity on an annual basis hereafter. The Alliance Pipeline system remains fully contracted under existing firm service contracts until December 1, 2015.
Stephen White, President and Chief Executive Officer commented: "Alliance expects to be a low cost and highly competitive transportation route to key midwest and eastern markets, earning superior netbacks for western Canadian producers. The pipeline's proximity to key developing shale resource plays such as the Montney in British Columbia and the Bakken in North Dakota, along with Alliance's capability to transport liquids rich gas provides a significant competitive advantage. Alliance has been working towards this date for some time and looks forward to the opportunity to introduce new services over the next five years. From a financial perspective, we expect that there will be a nominal increase in cash flow from our investment in Alliance over the next five years from these elections and do not expect that there to be any foreseeable impact on our distribution or dividend policy".
