Four Canadian Airports Receive International Service Quality Honours
Canadian winners of worldwide Airport Service Quality honours recognised
OTTAWA, May 28, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Airports Council today congratulated four of its members, who received international Airport Service Quality awards at a ceremony last week in Singapore. Airports in Ottawa, Halifax, Quebec City, and Montreal all received awards in the Airport Service Quality program from Airports Council International.
"Since the devolution of control of airports to locally responsible not for profit authorities began more than 20 years ago, Canada's airports have worked hard to improve the nation's airports," said CAC Chairman and President and CEO of ASQ awardee Halifax International Airport Authority Tom Ruth. "Year after year, this work has been recognised by passengers through top honours in the prestigious Airport Service Quality Program."
The six awards - the most awarded to any one country - were first announced in February and presented last week to:
- Ottawa International Airport Authority - First place for Best Airport by Region (North America) and second place for Best Airport by Size in the World (2-5 million passengers).
- Halifax International Airport Authority - Third place for Best Airport by Region (North America) and third place for Best Airport by Size in the World (2-5 million passengers).
- Aéroport de Québec - Best Airport with Fewer than 2 Million Passengers by Region (North America).
- Aéroports de Montréal - Best Improvement by Region (North America)
For several years in a row Canada's aviation infrastructure has been rated number one in the world by the World Economic Forum. More than $14 billion in infrastructure improvements have been made in Canada's airports since 1992.
Since its creation in 2006, the ASQ Awards from ACI have become the world's leading airport passenger satisfaction benchmark with more than 220 airports participating. The ASQ Awards recognize and reward the best airports in the world based on ACI's ASQ passenger satisfaction survey.
About the Canadian Airports Council

They create in excess of $45 billion in economic activity in the communities they serve. And more than 200,000 jobs are directly associated with CAC member airports, generating a payroll of more than $8 billion annually.
