Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts Named to FORTUNE List of the "100 Best Companies to Work For"
Employees name Company an Employer of Choice for 18th consecutive year
TORONTO, March 5, 2015 /CNW/ -- For 18 years in a row, Four Seasons has been named by its employees to FORTUNE Magazine's list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For," ranking 47th. Four Seasons is one of just 12 organizations to have the distinction of being recognized every year since the list began.
"At Four Seasons, we believe our greatest asset and the key to success is our people. The service they provide is the primary reason that guests consistently choose to stay with us in 95 hotels and resorts in 40 countries around the world," says Allen Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. "It's an honour to receive this award year after year as an endorsement of our exceptional workplace culture."
Creators of the methodology behind the list, Great Place to Work® has found that employees believe they work for great organizations when they consistently trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do, and enjoy the people they work with. While the FORTUNE list is a U.S.-based accolade, Four Seasons is fortunate to have more than 42,000 employees around the world who feel the same way.
In fact, it's this consistency that makes Four Seasons feel like home to employees who transfer to work at sister hotels and resorts, a benefit that is on the rise. In 2014 the number of internal employee transfers increased by 27 people, and the Company's newest U.S. property, Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort, attracted its highest ever number of moves – more than 100 – when it opened last summer.
"We have built a common culture based on the Golden Rule – to treat other people as we would like to be treated ourselves," said Christopher Hunsberger, Executive Vice President Human Resources and Administration. "Our employees were chosen based on their passion for service excellence. No matter the location, they know they will be surrounded by colleagues who share these values."
Most recently, Four Seasons introduced its world renowned culture to Bahrain, with the opening of its 95th property, Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay. New hotels are planned to open later this year in Casablanca, Seoul, and Bogota.
FORTUNE Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list is the latest honour for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, which is regularly recognized for its excellence in luxury hospitality and the dedication of its employees to providing the ultimate guest experience. In the past year, the Company was named as the Best Hotel Chain by The Times UK and the Best Hotel Group by the Telegraph UK; 22 Four Seasons properties were awarded the AAA Five Diamond ranking; 20 Four Seasons properties were recognized with Five-Star distinctions on the Forbes Travel Guide; and 44 Four Seasons properties were recognized on the T+L 500 of the World's Best Hotels; among others.
Methodology:
Fortune partners annually with Great Place to Work® to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America to identify the 100 Best Companies to Work For ®. Two-thirds of a company's survey score is based on the results of the Trust Index © Employee Survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. This survey asks questions related to employees' attitudes about management's credibility, overall job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third is based on responses to the Culture Audit ©, which includes detailed questionnaires about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts.
