MONTREAL, May 17, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - FPInnovations, a unique industry/government forest innovation partnership, applauds the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) on the launch of its new 2020 Vision - an industry on the move. Through this vision, the goal is for the Canadian forest products industry to power Canada's new economy by being green, innovative and open to the world, as well as a place to grow and prosper.
"We see this Vision as the keystone for the Canadian forest industry transformation and a direct commitment by industry to improve its overall competitiveness as well as play a central role in the new bio-economy", stated Pierre Lapointe, FPInnovations' President and Chief Executive Officer.
FPInnovations and FPAC have been working in close cooperation to implement the Forest Sector Transformation Strategy. Moreover FPInnovations is playing a critical role in providing the innovation development and deployment necessary to achieve this new Vision. "FPAC's new focus will help deliver a strong, competitive and diversified forest sector in Canada," continued Lapointe.
This new direction has been recognized and supported by the Federal Government in its March 2012 budget with support for market development and forest innovation.
FPInnovations is looking forward to continue working with all stakeholders in achieving FPAC's new Vision as it will play an important part in the overall Canadian economy as well as the stability and growth of numerous forestry dependent communities across the country.
