MONTREAL, Feb. 14, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Board of Directors of the Society for the Celebration of Montréal's 375th Anniversary unanimously endorsed the appointment of France Chrétien Desmarais as President of the organization responsible for organizing the celebrations in 2017.
"It is an honour to take on such an exciting challenge. I'm happy to draw upon my experience acquired on the Board of Directors of Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to transform Montréal's 375th anniversary into an opportunity for the Montréal community," said the new President of the Society's Board of Directors, Ms. Chrétien Desmarais. Let us note that the latter had already been actively involved as Director since the organization's inception.
It should be noted that other appointments to the board of directors will be announced over the coming weeks.
About France Chrétien Desmarais - President of the Board of Directors
After studies in law and economics at the University of Ottawa, France Chrétien Desmarais got involved in numerous companies and charitable organizations in areas as varied as health, sports, arts, education, heritage and support for youth. She is Vice-President and founding member of both the Guy Laliberté Foundation and ONE DROP Foundation, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation, the McGill University International Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviors Board, and the Partnership for a Drug-Free Canada. A Member of the Order of Canada, she has also served on the Board of Directors of Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch since 1998.
About the Society for the Celebration of Montréal's 375th Anniversary
In operation since the start of 2013, the Society's mission is to organize, in cooperation with various private and public partners, the celebrations for Montréal's 375th anniversary in 2017. The Society is keen to make sure that Montrealers are the life and soul of the party, so it is working to define an inclusive vision of the celebration, inspired by the direction set out during the 2011 public consultations: to celebrate Montreal's identity.
