Franklin Templeton Investments Canada Introduces Embedded Fee Series with Preferred Pricing
TORONTO, Jan. 25, 2019 /CNW/ - Franklin Templeton Investments Canada today introduced four new embedded fee series – Series PA, PA (Hedged), PT and PT-USD – with preferred pricing and daily auto-switching for commission-based investors and advisors.
"We continue to look for ways to simplify our pricing structure," said Duane Green, president and CEO, Franklin Templeton Investments Canada. "This new preferred pricing ensures that commission-based advisors always have their clients in the lowest priced option that they qualify for."
Features of the new embedded fee series include:
- Clients will automatically be switched from Series A, A (Hedged), T and T-USD ("retail series") to their respective lower fee option of Series PA, PA (Hedged), PT and PT-USD ("preferred series") upon meeting the minimum investment eligibility criteria of $200,000.
- Account linking is available across related accounts to help clients achieve this minimum more quickly, by allowing the linking of accounts for relatives extending beyond the parameters of a single household.
A chart detailing the lower fees and savings from switching to the new embedded fee series is available on franklintempleton.ca. Auto-switches do not incur fees or trigger any taxable event.
If a client no longer meets the eligibility criteria for the preferred series, their funds may be auto-switched into a series that has a higher management and administration fee, but they will not be switched into a series with fees that exceed those of the respective retail series.
When a fund is auto-switched into a preferred series from its respective retail series, a client will not receive a Fund Facts. Clients can request a Fund Facts any time by contacting our team at 1-800-387-0830 or [email protected] to have one sent to them at no cost. Fund Facts are also available on franklintempleton.ca and on the SEDAR website at sedar.com.
A client will not have the right to withdraw from the purchase in the case of auto-switching, but their right of action for damages or rescission remains in the event that a Fund Facts or document incorporated by reference into a simplified prospectus for the relevant series contains a misrepresentation, whether or not a client requests a Fund Facts.
Franklin Templeton's Simplicity Pricing offers a variety of features for commission- and fee-based investors and advisors, including preferred pricing on a broad line-up of mutual funds, which can be easily accessed with account linking.
