Free Public Family Law Informational Sessions
VICTORIA, Jan. 5, 2012 /CNW/ - Val Hemminger, senior lawyer and owner of Hemminger Schmid Lawyers and Mediators, is leading free informational and Q&A sessions on family law matters to interested local community groups in Greater Victoria. Sessions are geared towards various lay and professional audiences who want answers to questions about family law as it pertains to their personal or professional lives. New changes to the Family Relations Act make these sessions particularly timely. We have partnered with Transition Services for Families, Westshore RCMP and financial planning groups, and welcome new audiences (e.g. parent groups, community centres, etc.). We aim to build new relationships and spread valuable knowledge through ongoing community service work. Topics may include: separation and divorce; child support; spousal support (alimony); property rights; co-habitation (rights, responsibilities and agreements); how to improve relationships with social workers; ministry apprehensions; and more. Individual discussions are tailored to each audience. Scheduling contact: Shona Boisvert, [email protected], (250) 220-8686.
