TORONTO, Feb. 6, 2012 /CNW/ - Back and bigger than ever, Global presents music's most prestigious night, the 54th Annual GRAMMY® Awards on Sunday, February 12th - 8pm ET/PT.
Hosted by GRAMMY winner and NCIS: Los Angeles's star LL Cool J, the live awards ceremony will feature spectacular performances from the alt rock band Foo Fighters, country music singer Jason Aldean, songstress Kelly Clarkson, rapper Nicki Minaj, pop princess Taylor Swift, singer-songwriter Bruno Mars and the legendary Paul McCartney. Adding to this stellar lineup of artists are past GRAMMY winners and current nominees Coldplay and Rihanna who will perform together live for the first time ever.
"The GRAMMYs bring together recording artists from every genre, making for one incredible, star-packed - not to mention unpredictable - award show," said Barb Williams, SVP, Content, Shaw Media. "Plus, ET Canada's Cheryl and Rick will be dressed to the nines and mingling with the A-list celebrities mere minutes before the show begins for Global's annual pre-GRAMMYs special. As the only Canadian entertainment news show on the red carpet, viewers need only tune into Global to get that extra step closer to the biggest stars of the night."
Global kicks off the celebration at 7pm ET/PT as the artists begin their walk down the red carpet to Cheryl Hickey (@CherylHickeyETC), Rick Campanelli (@RCampanelliETC) and Roz Weston (@RozWeston) for the one-hour special, The GRAMMY Awards: ET Canada Live (#ETCGRAMMYs). With 10 cameras covering every inch of the red carpet, plus the on-screen Twitter ticker and the debut of the Style Dial - which gives viewers the chance to vote instantly online for their favourite celebrity outfits and see the results moments later on screen - ET Canada's interactive GRAMMY pre-show will make audiences feel like they're right there rubbing shoulders with the music moguls themselves. For all this and more, fans can visit etcanada.com.
Official sponsors of this year's GRAMMY Awards broadcast on Global include L'Oréal Paris, Nissan and RIM. For the fifth consecutive year, L'Oréal Paris returns as the official beauty sponsor of The GRAMMY Awards: ET Canada Live and the awards broadcast, supported by brand spots and billboards. Nissan's sponsorship will be emphasized by brand spots and billboards during the second hour of the broadcast, and as the official sponsor of the on-air Twitter ticker, RIM's association will be highlighted by brand spots, billboards and custom promos airing throughout the pre-show. In conjunction with this year's event, Universal Music and HMV are offering Canadians a chance to win a trip to the 55th GRAMMY Awards by entering a contest at www.hmvdigital.ca. The contest is currently being promoted on Global, select Shaw Media specialty channels and in HMV stores across Canada.
