Frontier College President to accept prestigious Diamond Jubilee Medal
TORONTO, June 18, 2012 /CNW/ - Frontier College President Sherry Campbell is thrilled to be receiving The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. "I am delighted to accept this on behalf of the thousands of volunteers, staff and community partners who work on the front lines and who believe in our mission. On Monday, June 18th, The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and Mrs. Ruth Ann Onley will present the medal, which was created to recognize 60 years of service by Queen Elizabeth II, as well as significant contributions and achievements by Canadians, including Frontier College.
Frontier College, Canada's original literacy organization is proud to be part of this exciting event, which has been created in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada.
Since 2006, Frontier College has been working with the Lieutenant Governor's office by managing the Lieutenant Governor's Aboriginal Summer Literacy Camps. These camps, which provide literacy support in a fun and interactive environment, have served 13,500 children and youth in over 30 Aboriginal communities.
