Fujitsu Demonstrates CGI Studio, a Hybrid 2D and 3D HMI Software Development
Platform for Automotive Systems at Convergence 2010
Enables 3D User Interfaces Based on Microsoft Windows; Optimized for the Latest Graphics Display Controller Technology from Fujitsu

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and DETROIT, Oct. 19 /CNW/ -- Fujitsu Semiconductor America, Inc. (FSA) will demonstrate CGI Studio, its independent software development platform for 3D graphical human machine interfaces (HMI/GUI), automotive instrument clusters and infotainment systems at SAE Convergence 2010 at the Cobo Center in Detroit, October 19-20 (booth #817).

CGI Studio features the 3D engine "Candera" and the development tool environment "Scene Composer." The package provides a continuous tool chain for the development of 3D graphical interfaces as well as the necessary software development process. The use of OpenGL® ES 2.0 and a strict OS abstraction enables a high degree of hardware independence and provides maximum flexibility.

The package is optimized to deliver a continuous and harmonized process flow from the artist-over-host design down to the target application, and covers the specific automotive requirements for optimized performance and power consumption. CGI Studio provides information on the concept feasibility for the respective platform during an early design phase. This results in rapid prototyping and decision making on relevant visual features and the required target system.

CGI Studio was originally developed by Fujitsu Microelectronics Embedded Solutions Austria GmbH (FEAT), which focuses on worldwide automotive, industrial, and telecommunication projects. FEAT supports its customers with its software products and services.

"Available as part of the AutoGraFX application suite, CGI Studio provides a single development tool chain from early conception to design, prototyping, testing, and deployment," said Dan Landeck, senior manager for marketing at Fujitsu Semiconductor America. "CGI Studio offers automotive system designers a powerful Microsoft Windows-based solution to shorten development time and reduce costs for advanced automotive applications."

Target applications for CGI Studio include 2D/3D graphic engines and tooling for the automotive area, software frameworks for mobile devices, and products for speeding up data transfer over long distances.

Availability

CGI Studio version 1.0 is available now. Various application examples, a Fujitsu hardware development platform and a Web support framework will be established soon.

About Fujitsu Semiconductor America, Inc.

Fujitsu Semiconductor America, Inc.
