Consulting firm renews its status as title sponsor of the Cedars CanSupport 'Rain or Shine' Dragon Boat Race & Festival
MONTREAL, July 14 /CNW Telbec/ - Taking a leadership role in supporting cancer patients and their families through a unique sponsorship has been rewarding for Fuller Landau. So much so that the Montreal-based firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors has decided to renew its title sponsorship of the Cedars CanSupport 'Rain or Shine' Dragon Boat Race & Festival. Fuller Landau Montreal has proudly supported this popular event for the past three years and has renewed for the next two years, through 2012.
"Supporting an organization like The Cedars Cancer Institute and its CanSupport program is an easy decision that is both professional and personal," said Michael Newton, Managing Partner of Fuller Landau Montreal. "We all know someone who is living heroically with cancer, and The Cedars Cancer Institute does a marvellous job in achieving its mission through quality programs. I cannot think of a better way for us to invest the firm's resources to support such a noble cause."
"Partnerships like the one we enjoy with Fuller Landau Montreal allow us to improve our care to patients and their families," said Gwen Andrews Nacos, founder of the Cedars CanSupport program. "It's inspiring to see a company embrace our cause so wholeheartedly. All of these factors have a direct impact on our ability to improve people's lives."
This year, the Cedars CanSupport 'Rain or Shine' Dragon Boat Race & Festival, presented by Fuller Landau, will take place on Saturday, September 25th on the waterfront at Promenade Père-Marquette in Lachine, Québec. Since its inception in 2006, the event has raised more than $1,250,000 for the Cedars CanSupport program at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).
Teams of 20 paddlers and one drummer per dragon boat can sign up to participate in the event with a minimum contribution of $10,000 in pledges per field entry. In 2008, more than 700 paddlers witnessed the presence of Premier Jean Charest and Lance Armstrong to raise more than $400,000. In 2009, Alexandre Despatie made a splash with his presence on the way to the event raising in excess of $500,000.
"The total raised last year surpassed our objective," said Michael Newton. "Our team enthusiastically embraces this event year after year, spearheaded by Jaimie Auger, who brought Cedars to our attention a few years ago. Together with our sponsorship package, team-based donations, and the teamwork of so many more, we have been able to help raise more than $1,000,000 for their worthy cause since our initial involvement."
