Funding Available to Participate in the NEB's Regulatory Process Regarding the Enbridge Pipelines Inc. Edmonton to Hardisty Pipeline Project

CALGARY, Jan. 17, 2013 /CNW/ - The National Energy Board (NEB or the Board) is making available $200,000.00 under its Participant Funding Program to assist landowners, Aboriginal groups, incorporated non-industry, not-for-profit organisations, and other interested persons to participate in the regulatory process of the proposed Enbridge Pipeline Inc. (Enbridge) Edmonton to Hardisty Pipeline Project (the Project).

Enbridge has filed an application indicating its intent to construct and operate approximately 181 km of pipeline to transport crude oil from its existing Edmonton Terminal to its existing Hardisty Terminal. The Project would also include the construction and operation of a new initiating pump station at Enbridge's existing Edmonton Terminal, two new pump stations at its existing Kingman and Strome stations, as well as associated facilities and infrastructure at its existing Edmonton and Hardisty Terminals.

If approved, the proposed pipeline would deliver crude oil to other existing pipelines and facilities located in the Hardisty area, including delivery onto the Enbridge Mainline system.

This funding is being made available to help interested persons review and comment on a project application submitted by the proponent, Enbridge. To receive funding, interested persons will have to apply for and be accepted as an intervenor in the NEB's regulatory process for this project. Funding must be used to prepare for and participate in the hearing process, which will be announced by the Board at a later date.

Interested persons are encouraged to review information on the proposed project, as well as the NEB's Draft List of Issues before submitting an application.

Funding applications should be submitted as soon as possible. Participant funding will only be awarded for hearing related activities conducted after your application has been approved. A funding review committee, independent of the regulatory process, will consider all applications for funding and make recommendations on the allocation of funds.
