Funding of $4.8 Million for the Renovation and Expansion of the Maison de la Culture de Sainte-Anne-des-Monts Français
The governments of Canada and Quebec support the Maison de la culture de Sainte-Anne-des-Monts
SAINTE-ANNE-DES-MONTS, QC, Aug. 16, 2018 /CNW/ - The governments of Canada and Quebec are providing financial assistance of almost $4.8 million to renovate and expand the Maison de la culture de Sainte-Anne-des-Monts.
The funding was announced today by the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue and Member of Parliament (Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine), on behalf of the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism; and the Honourable Pierre Moreau, Quebec Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Minister responsible for the Plan Nord and Minister responsible for the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine region.
Thirty years after it was first used, the equipment of the Maison de la culture de Sainte-Anne-des-Monts can no longer meet the needs of residents and users. The poor and outdated layout of the various interior spaces and the building's state of disrepair are affecting the sound operation of this cultural organization, as well as the safety of its users. This funding will allow for the building and equipment to be brought up to code, for spaces to be redesigned, and for the performance hall and the library to be expanded. These renovations have been deemed essential and urgent.
