TORONTO, April 16, 2015 /CNW/ - Ontario's Board of Funeral Services announced that the licence of Lee Funeral Home in Streetsville, Ontario was revoked on April 10, 2015, after owner Deoram (Roy) Benipersaud, failed to appeal the Registrar's Proposal to revoke the establishment's licence.
Revocation proceedings commenced immediately when it became known to the funeral regulator that a private lender had executed a Sherriff's Writ of Possession over the property, effectively locking the owner out of the business. "With the cooperation of the sympathetic mortgagee, we were able to secure consumers' prepaid files, and take into our care all cremated remains being stored at the funeral home" stated Regulatory Compliance Manager, Peter M. Jordan.
Members of the public with prepaid contracts or cremated remains previously under the care of Lee Funeral Home Limited are asked to contact the Board of Funeral Services immediately at 416-979-5450/800-387-4458 or by email at [email protected]
The Board of Funeral Services regulates the practices of funeral directors and preplanners, transfer service operators, funeral service establishments and transfer services in accordance with the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act (2002).
