Future medical leaders off to a great start with Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Scholarship
LONDON, ON, Aug. 27, 2014 /CNW/ - Four exceptionally bright and community-minded students are heading off to university in September with big smiles and a lighter financial load. The students have been named the 2014 recipients of The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame / Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life Scholarship Award.
The four scholarship recipients are: Lu Jia Lin of Delta, British Columbia; Divya Shah of Markham, Ontario; Mark Parker of Canning, Nova Scotia; and Cassandra Waugh of Blackville, New Brunswick. Between them these future leaders have received more than 30 academic and leadership awards and have contributed to and/or started more than a dozen community service and charitable organizations. This scholarship opportunity is available to high school students aspiring to a career in medicine or the health sciences. It provides $1,000 each year towards a four-year undergraduate degree at a Canadian university.
"Selecting four recipients from such a vast array of worthy candidates is no easy task, but this year's recipients are truly over-the-top achievers. We are grateful to Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life for enabling us to continue to inspire young people to pursue their dreams in health science through this scholarship," said Lissa Foster, CMHF Executive Director.
