The Honourable John W. Morden will be presenting the report's conclusions and recommendations to the Toronto Police Services Board ("the Board") on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10:00 am EST at Toronto Police Service Headquarters. The presentation will include a statement by Mr. Morden regarding his report followed by a question period with Ryan Teschner, Review Counsel.
The recommendations within the report include an open exchange of information, increased consultation, and a directive to set appropriate objectives, priorities, and policies for major events, operations, and organizationally-significant issues between the Board and the Toronto Police Service.
About the Review
The Independent Civilian Review into Matters Relating to the G20 Summit was launched on September 23, 2010 by the Toronto Police Services Board. The Review examined issues concerning the role the Board played with respect to the policing of the G20 Summit that was held in Toronto on June 25-27, 2010. It also examined the role played by the Toronto Police Service during the G20 Summit, with a view to determining whether the plans developed and implemented were adequate and effective for policing of the Summit. The Board appointed the Honourable John W. Morden, a former Associate Chief Justice of Ontario, to conduct the Review and provide a report and recommendations.
