G3 Canada Limited expands origination footprint in Saskatchewan
G3 to begin construction of new primary elevators near Melville and Saskatoon
WINNIPEG, March 28, 2017 /CNW/ - G3 Canada Limited (G3) announced today that it will construct two new primary elevators in Saskatchewan. The sites are located approximately 5 kilometers north of Melville on Highway 10, and 7 kilometers west of Saskatoon on Highway 14.
"Growing our origination footprint in Saskatchewan is the next step in G3's plans to build a highly competitive coast-to-coast grain handling network," says Karl Gerrand, CEO, G3. "These two new locations are being constructed with the same state-of-the-art truck delivery and rail shipping features as our other new facilities, which are key components of G3's excellent customer service offering."
The new facilities will feature high capacity drags under the driveshed, enabling trucks to unload quickly. Both facilities are being constructed on CN Rail with 134-car loop tracks, providing G3 with excellent rail access to its Thunder Bay and St. Lawrence River terminals, and to G3 Terminal Vancouver once it becomes operational in 2020. The new elevators at Melville and Saskatoon are being constructed with 34,000 tonnes and 42,000 tonnes of storage capacity respectfully.
"We're excited to join these communities, and will work hard to earn the privilege of being the preferred business partner for local farmers," said Gerrand. "We look forward to showing local farmers what G3 has to offer their business."
Construction on the new elevators will commence in April, and both are slated for completion prior to the 2018 harvest.
