G8-G20 Summits Integrated Security Unit - Major Arteries and Highways Will be
Frequently Closed Due to G8-G20 Summits
TORONTO, June 24 /CNW/ - All motorists in the Greater Toronto Area should expect frequent and extended highway closures resulting in significant delays on major arteries and highways from June 24 to June 27 due to the G8-G20 Summits.
Highways 427, 401, Queen Elizabeth Way, Gardiner Expressway will experience frequent closures. Additionally, the Don Valley Parkway will be impacted by these closures. Most of the closures will be inbound toward the downtown core from June 24 to June 26 and outbound on Sunday, June 27.
People travelling to Lester B. Pearson International Airport can expect major delays as Highway 427 and Highway 401 will be impacted by Integrated Security Unit (ISU) security operations. Travellers should allow for extra time to reach the airport. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes if driving near the affected highways. The use of public transit is strongly recommended for those travelling to downtown Toronto from June 24 to 27.
