G8-G20 Summits Integrated Security Unit - Toronto Police Service Lays Charges
Following G20-Related Arrest
BARRIE, ON, June 23 /CNW/ - Toronto Police Service (TPS) officers executed a search warrant at 58 Elderwood Drive, in the Bathurst and Lawrence area of Toronto on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, as a result of an ongoing investigation.
Toronto Police are now laying charges against Byron Sonne, 37, of Toronto. He is charged with:
1) Intimidation of Justice System Participant by Threat 2) Intimidation of Justice System Participant by Watch and Beset 3) Mischief interfere with property 4) Attempt mischief 5) Possess explosive for unlawful purpose 6) Weapons dangerous.
Further details will not be released as the investigation is ongoing as part of the Toronto Police Service's efforts to ensure a safe and secure G20 Summit. There is no risk to public safety and this time.
The Toronto Police Service is a member of the RCMP-led Integrated Security Unit (ISU). The ISU has the mandate to ensure safe and secure summits in Huntsville and Toronto in June 2010 for all participants, visitors and residents. The ISU is comprised of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Toronto Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Peel Regional Police and the Canadian Forces.
