Gastar Exploration Announces Marcellus Shale Production Temporarily Interrupted due to Rupture of Third Party-Operated Pipeline
HOUSTON, April 7, 2014 /CNW/ - Gastar Exploration Inc. (NYSE MKT: GST) announced today that its production in Marshall County, West Virginia has been shut-in since early Saturday morning due to the rupture of a pipeline operated by Williams Partners. Gastar hopes to restart production, which currently represents approximately two-thirds of its average daily production, as early as Tuesday night.
On Saturday morning Williams experienced a rupture and fire in a 12-inch gas pipeline several miles north of Gastar's operated properties in Marshall County. Williams is inspecting the scope of damage to their system and is working with Gastar personnel to determine how to expedite resumption of operations.
Williams has stated that it expects to re-route Gastar's gas production to a larger pipeline it owns and operates south of our acreage that feeds the Ft. Beeler station. Gastar plans to collect produced condensate in temporary storage on an existing Marcellus pad and truck it to sales. The two companies expect to operate in this temporary mode an estimated two weeks, depending on the progress of repairs on Williams' ruptured pipeline.
