GATINEAU, QC, Oct. 4, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Marc Bureau, mayor of Gatineau and president of Développement économique - CLD Gatineau, this morning launched the ImmigrAffaires Gatineau guide, in the presence of representatives from Gatineau's many cultural communities at the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
With this guide, available at www.gatineauvilledaffaires.ca/tools.php, future entrepreneurs can now obtain all the information they need to plan every aspect of their business project—with the click of a mouse. Whether for questions involving the citizenship status of the immigrant business person, financial aid programs, the business culture particular to the Gatineau region, tax rules in effect, accounting standards governing SMEs, the company start-up process and recruiting and training workers, all of the answers are available in the online guide ImmgrAffaires Gatineau. A unique feature of this guide is that it is available in five languages: English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese.
For Mayor Bureau, posting the ImmigrAffaires Gatineau guide online is an important step for Développement économique - CLD Gatineau. "Because we can now provide comprehensive information in five languages, via the Web, we will raise Gatineau's profile in the global community. We hope thereby to increase the number of immigrants who come and contribute to our community's economic development," he said.
The mayor pointed out that since the mid-2000s, Gatineau has seen the strongest proportional growth in immigration in Quebec and second strongest on a Canada-wide scale. Of the 7,000 or so companies doing business in the Gatineau area, more than 1,200 are headed by immigrant entrepreneurs. "Not only is it one of the strongest in number, but also in terms of success. Gatineau is fertile ground for success! I applaud the creativity and perseverance of our immigrant entrepreneurs, thanks to whom thousands of Gatineau residents can work and prosper in our city," concluded Mr. Bureau.
