Gennum's 3G/HD/SD Equalizers Improve Signal Integrity for Broadcast Video Infrastructure

BURLINGTON, ON, April 12 /CNW/ - Gennum Corporation (TSX:GND) today announced the addition of two feature-rich 3Gb/s High Definition/Standard Definition (3G/HD/SD) cable equalizers to its industry-leading broadcast solutions portfolio. The GS2993 and GS2994 3G/HD/SD cable equalizers offer video broadcast customers improved performance and lower power consumption through additional innovative functionality, while maintaining signal integrity.

Building on the success of Gennum's previous generation 3Gb/s cable equalizer solutions, the GS2993 and GS2994 integrate new features offering a more flexible interface while maintaining maximum signal integrity. New features included in both products include a wider output DC coupling range, optional intelligent power down/power up to allow the chip to enter power savings mode when not in use and output de-emphasis to drive longer traces between chips. Additionally, the GS2993 integrates independent dual outputs to drive two devices with different input requirements and different trace lengths, and includes a cable length indicator.

Both the GS2993 and GS2994 offer full swing (800mV) and half swing (400mV) options to provide equipment designers with a flexible, lower power solution. The GS2993 and GS2994 are anticipated to be available for sampling in April and will be in full production in June.

Gennum's 3Gb/s HD/SD cable equalizers will be demonstrated live in the Gennum booth (No. N5337) at the National Association of Broadcasters Conference (NAB), being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from April 12-15, 2010.
