Gennum's SDI Portfolio Widely Demonstrated at NAB, Enabling 3D Solutions
Tier 1 Video Broadcast Suppliers Demonstrate 3D Using Gennum's SDI Solutions
BURLINGTON, ON, April 22 /CNW/ - At the National Association for Broadcasters Conference (NAB) in Las Vegas last week, Gennum's Serial Digital Interface (SDI) solutions were widely showcased in Tier 1 video broadcast 3D demonstrations across the show floor.
Last year at NAB, Gennum launched a full suite of 3 Gbps 1080p50/60 SDI solutions for the professional video broadcast market. Now, Gennum's SDI solutions are broadly enabling 3D solutions in the broadcast industry, including equipment produced and manufactured by, Panasonic, Harris, Miranda, Nevion, Astro, and many more.
For 3D content capture, production, transmission and emission for live presentation applications and for final delivery to the home, Gennum's market-leading signal integrity solutions enable 3DTV for broadcasters. Gennum provides the global video broadcast market with a robust portfolio of SDI solutions, with high performance, low power; cable equalizers, reclockers, cable drivers, receivers and transmitters all fully capable of real-time transport of standard definition (SD), high definition (HD) and 3D images.
Gennum's SDI solutions support all current 3D formats, from 720p, 1080i and 1080p. With the flexibility to support all of these formats and a portfolio of industry-leading products that address the needs of the video broadcast chain, Gennum is poised to support the industry's infrastructure upgrade to 3D solutions.
Last week at NAB, Gennum, along with SENSIO, demonstrated its 3G SDI products in a live working demonstration of 3DTV. Customers and NAB visitors viewed crystal clear 3D images transmitted across Gennum's signal integrity solutions demonstrating that designers can future-proof their current designs for 3D with Gennum solutions which are available in full production now.
In addition, the recent live presentation of the Masters Golf Tournament was broadcast using SENSIO and Sony technology, enabled by Gennum SDI solutions.
"The industry buzz at NAB was certainly around the evolution of 3DTV. We are excited to see our customers, Tier 1 video broadcast suppliers from around the world, demonstrating the SDI solutions we launched a year ago, working in their booths at NAB to enable their 3D solutions," said Dr. Franz Fink, President and Chief Executive Officer, Gennum Corporation. "Gennum continues to enable signal integrity and integrated SMPTE specific digital functionality in a broad spectrum of Tier 1 video broadcast equipment," continued Fink.
Without SDI components, 3D would not be possible. The intense bandwidth requirements of 3D television require the serial digital interface solutions that Gennum develops. Gennum's commitment to provide the video broadcast industry with a complete suite of signal integrity solutions that meet the evolving market requirements is once again demonstrated with its future-proofed solutions which are being deployed by major Tier 1 video broadcast providers around the world. Suppliers continue to rely on Gennum to deliver the highest quality, reliability and integrity of the video signal.
