George Brown only college among Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2015
TORONTO, Nov. 4, 2014 /CNW/ - George Brown College has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers, acknowledging its progressive and forward-thinking employee programs. This is the fourth time George Brown has been recognized as a Top 100 Employer in the country, and it is the only college to make the list this year.
George Brown was selected as an exceptional workplace for its commitment to staff development including generous tuition subsidies for both employees and their families and a variety of training opportunities in areas such as conflict resolution, human rights and mental health. It was also noted for offering an outstanding parental leave program and alternative work options for balancing work and personal commitments.
"I'm thrilled that George Brown is being recognized for the extraordinary work we do to develop, encourage and support all our staff and faculty," said Anne Sado, President of George Brown College. "This award is an acknowledgment of the dedicated employees at the college who work tirelessly to make George Brown an excellent place to work."
This announcement adds to the college's long list of achievements recognizing its outstanding employee programs, including being named a Greater Toronto Top Employer in 2011 and 2012, among Canada's Best Diversity Employers in 2010 and one of Canada's Best Family Friendly Employers in 2011.
Employers were selected for Canada's Top 100 list based on eight criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
Canada's Top 100 Employers received a record number of applicants this spring. A complete list of winners were announced today in a special editorial supplement published in The Globe and Mail and the detailed reasons for selection can be found at www.CanadasTop100.com/national.
