George Christopoulos joins BILD as Vice President Communications and Media Relations

GREATER TORONTO, June 19, 2013 /CNW/ - The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) is pleased to announce that George Christopoulos will be joining the executive team in the position of BILD Vice President Communications and Media Relations.  He will begin his new role at the Association on Tuesday, July 2.

"George comes to BILD with strong media relations, strategic communications and management skills and experience," said BILD President and CEO Bryan Tuckey.

"George will help BILD continue to build on our relationships and position ourselves as thought leaders, while enhancing the reputation of our members and the home building, land development and professional renovation industry across the GTA."

The executive search was conducted by JL Cornerstone, a firm specializing in leadership and high impact positions in the real estate, manufacturing, distribution, construction and building products industries.  BILD retained the firm in March and more than 150 communications and media relations professionals in associations, real estate and development firms, industry groups, public organizations and public relations firms across the GTA, were considered.

An interview committee of BILD executive staff and board members received a presentation from each of the final candidates outlining how they would implement the BILD Communications Strategy, which was approved by the Board of Directors in April, and will be one of the key responsibilities of the new Vice President.

Previously, George worked as the Communications Advisor and Press Secretary in the Office of the Mayor at the City of Toronto and before joining the Mayor's office, he was an integral part of the Toronto Police Service's communications team, managing internal and external communications, as well as relationships with all of the major media channels, for nearly a decade.  He started his career as a journalist and has been presented with a number of awards for his investigative work. He has a Bachelor of English Degree from York University and a Journalism Diploma from Sheridan College.
