Georox Names Dr. Krishna Persad VP of Caribbean Region
KELOWNA, BC, Sept. 15 /CNW/ - Georox Resources Inc. ("Georox" or the "Company") (GXR:TSX-V; OF6A:FRA) has appointed Dr. Krishna Persad Vice-President of the Caribbean Region.
Dr. Krishna Persad, has a B.Sc. (Special Honours) and a Ph.D. in Geology with over forty years experience in the petroleum industry, during which time he has come to be recognized as an industry pioneer and the world's leading expert on the geology of Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Persad is a recipient of many awards including being named by the South Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Trinidad as one of the 40 most influential persons in the Trinidad and Tobago Petroleum Industry in the last 100 years. In April 2010 he was appointed a member of the Government Task Force on establishing a policy and regulatory framework for carbon dioxide emissions in Trinidad & Tobago and is the Chair of the sub-committee on New Business Opportunities.
Dr. Persad worked for various oil companies during the period 1970 and 1987, locally and internationally and held many senior management positions. During this time his work resulted in the discoveries of two of the biggest oil finds in Trinidad with over 3 billion barrels oil in place discovered at Trinmar. From 1987 onward Dr. Persad prepared many multi-client studies based on a vast amount of original work done by him and other consultants for international oil companies operating in Trinidad. He still actively consults.
In 1990 he was awarded the first ever farmout from Trintopec and started the country's first modern local independent exploration and production company. In 1994 he started the first local off-shore production public company listed on the Trinidad Stock Exchange of which its cumulative production is about 2 million barrels. In February, 2004 Dr. Persad worked as Country Manager and Team Leader Exploration of Trinidad Exploration and Development Ltd. A company with a 50,000 acre licence in the South West Peninsula for over two years and is currently retained as Geological Advisor.
Dr. Persad has conceptualized, initiated and run numerous geological and petroleum conferences in Trinidad and is the founder of the Trinidad Geological Research Centre through which he publishes maps and reports on Trinidad and Tobago petroleum geology. Over the years Dr. Persad has written many papers and company reports. He currently lectures at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad.
With his experience and proven management abilities, Dr. Persad will bring tremendous value to Georox and the North Marine Block project. His role will be for the management of the operations in the Caribbean and reporting to the President and Board of Georox.
Gulf Central Limited was the successful bidder in the recent comprehensive bid for the North Marine block located in the Gulf of Paria offshore Trinidad and Tobago. Gulf Central Limited is 80 per cent owned by Georox and 20 per cent owned by Carbon Dioxide Caribbean Holdings Ltd (CDCH). CDCH is a member of the Krishna Persad & Associates Group.
Georox has granted 250,000 options to Dr. Persad entitling him to purchase an aggregate 250,000 common shares of the Company, pursuant to the company's stock option plan approved by the shareholders, at a price of $0.22 per share for a period of three years subject to the approval of the TSX Venture Exchange. Stock options granted under the Corporation's stock option plan are not transferable, cannot be traded and vest over a period not less than 24 months.
