MONTREAL, Aug. 24, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - As manager of the FÉRIQUE Funds, Gestion FÉRIQUE announced today a change of portfolio managers for the FÉRIQUE Equity Fund (Equity Fund) and the FÉRIQUE Dividend Fund (Dividend Fund).
On or about September 18, 2017, Franklin Templeton Investments Corp. (Franklin Templeton) will replace Montrusco Bolton Investments Inc. and MFS Investment Management Canada Limited as portfolio manager of the Equity Fund. As a result of this change, Franklin Templeton will manage about 40% of the portfolio, and the current portfolio manager, Connor, Clark and Lunn Investment Management, will manage about 60% of the portfolio. The FÉRIQUE Equity Fund's investment objective will remain the same.
The Franklin Templeton team seeks to identify high-quality, well-managed businesses that have a track record of success and a sustainable business model. It believes that such businesses are capable of providing steady earnings and dividend growth and, in turn, equity price appreciation.
The FÉRIQUE Equity Fund, launched on August 16, 1974, has more than $515 million of assets and is one of the 11 Canadian equity funds with a track record of more than 30 years in a current universe of more than 400 comparable funds in Canada. The Fund's management expense ratio is currently 1.05%, and the fund is in the industry's least expensive quartile of funds according to Fundata as at June 30, 2017.
Also at that date, Lincluden Investment Management Limited (Lincluden) will replace CIBC Asset Management Inc. as portfolio manager of the Dividend Fund. Lincluden will be the sole portfolio manager of the Dividend Fund. The Dividend Fund's investment objective will remain the same.
Lincluden's investment philosophy is based on a value approach. The team believes that the stock market can be inefficient in the short and medium terms, and therefore focuses on identifying securities that trade at a discount to their true value. The combination of rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis enables the team to identify companies trading at a significant discount.
The FÉRIQUE Dividend Fund, launched on October 1, 2009, has almost $240 million of assets. The Fund's management expense ratio is currently 1.05%, and the fund is in the industry's least expensive quartile of funds according to Fundata as at June 30, 2017.
The simplified prospectus of the FÉRIQUE Funds and the Annual Information will be amended to reflect this change and the amendment will be transmitted to the Autorité des marchés financiers and the Ontario Securities Commission and will be filed on www.sedar.com and www.ferique.com.
