Get active at Toronto and Region Conservation Summer Camps
TORONTO, June 6, 2012 /CNW/ - Summer is on its way and Toronto and Region Conservation has various summer camp options available for children interested in exploring nature at Kortright Centre for Conservation, being a pioneer for a week at Black Creek Pioneer Village, or participating in a golf camp at Bathurst Glen Golf Course, developed by Henry Brunton Golf an industry leader in junior golf coaching.
Summer Day Camps at Kortright Conservation
The Kortright Camp is for children 6 - 12 years of age who love nature and the out of doors. Campers will learn stories, crafts and activities that will spark their interest in nature. Each day will centre around a theme. Some of these include wetlands, mammals, owls, and solar energy.
Camp Highlights: Fun activities include: exploring and wading in the Humber River, weekly cookout lunch, weekly visit from Reptilia, weekly visits to the Canadian Peregrine Barn.
Camp Dates:
This year we are offering four exciting weeks of camp throughout July and August. They are July 9 - 13 / July 16 - 20 / August 13 - 17 / August 20 - 24 The Kortright camp runs Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm with drop-off between 8:30 and 9:00am.

Pioneer Summer Day Camps at Black Creek Pioneer Village
Kids can enjoy our own Pioneer Day Camp for a full week, or if they are attending another camp, they can take advantage of the half- and full-day kids' group programs offered in the Village, which is owned and operated by Toronto and Region Conservation.
Black Creek Pioneer Village Adventure Day Camp is a summer day camp with a difference! Children ages 8 to 14 will go behind the scenes of Toronto's favourite living history site to experience life as it was in the 1860s.
Camp Highlights:
During the one-week program, campers will dress, work and play pioneer style! They will cook on a wood stove, make unique arts and crafts, take part in farmyard chores, take natural history hikes and participate in old-fashioned fun and games.
Camp Dates: For kids ages 8 to 11, one-week sessions begin July 2, 9, 16, 30 and August 13. For kids ages 12 to 14, there is a session from July 23 to 27. Camp begins at 9 a.m. and runs to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (drop off between 8:30 and 9 a.m. /pick up at 4:30 p.m.).

Henry Brunton Golf Junior Camp - Canada's leading golf camp for boys and girls ages 7-15
At this year's Bathurst Glen Junior Camp, run by Henry Brunton, a CPGA Master Professional, junior golfers will not only develop golf skills, they will also learn about healthy "green" golf practices, various species of wildlife seen on the course, and how natural wetlands help plants and wildlife. They also learn what Bathurst Glen does to help conserve water and energy, and more importantly why it's important to care. Space is limited to 25 participants per week. Bathurst Glen Golf Course is owned and operated by Toronto and Region Conservation.
Camp Highlights:
- Full-day program: drop off at 8:30am and pick up at 3:30pm. Early drop off and late pick up arrangements are available for $10.00 a day.
- Participants learn to play golf through morning skills development and on course play and coaching after lunch every afternoon. Green fees included in tuition.
- Fun and active program. Exciting and interactive for kids.
- Nutritious lunches and snacks included
- 6:1 golfer-to-coach maximum ratio. Led by Cory Southon, Canadian PGA.
- No experience or equipment necessary
- Camp celebration and awards on Friday afternoon

Camp Dates: Weeks offered for 2012: July 2-6th, 9-13th, 16-20th, 23-27th August 7-10th (4 day week $319), 13-17th, 20-24th, 27-31st.
