Edmonton Gets Canada's First Fresh-Casual Restaurant
EDMONTON, Aug. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Plow & Harvest, a new concept in dining, will debut August 16th in west Edmonton at Stony Plain Road and 170th Street.
The first restaurant of its kind, Plow & Harvest redefines the art of comfort food by combining a fresh-casual approach with a unique chef-crafted menu. With a focus on sourcing and promoting local ingredients, Plow & Harvest supports local and regional producers by serving delicious, enticing, one-of-a-kind menu offerings built on handcrafted techniques and artisanal products. From the signature BBQ Bison Meatloaf Plate, to the Mac-N-Cheese with Bacon Breadcrumbs, to the Heritage Roast Turkey Club, the menu offers timeless favourites updated with modern flair and served in a casual, friendly environment.
"Edmonton is the perfect location for this unique concept," says Celene Lemire, Plow & Harvest's General Manager and local industry veteran. "With the vibrant dining scene and the network of incredible local producers available, combined with economic opportunity not seen in other parts of the country, Edmonton is a natural fit."
"Plow & Harvest is leading the evolution of comfort food. Supporting local purveyors allows us to offer the finest quality ingredients for our guests even as we support Edmonton businesses. Most importantly, it's about providing exceptional food experiences. We're doing this with a chef-crafted menu, featuring a number of unique items crafted from fresh, local products that range from an Alberta Beef Frontier French Dip to a Vegan Deviled Eggless Salad Sandwich and our signature Buttermilk Fried Chicken. We look forward to helping Edmonton discover more of the amazing things local suppliers have to offer," said James Bailey, Consulting Chef to Plow & Harvest.
In all, 26 positions have been created in the new restaurant and local staff will help influence how the concept comes to life for Edmonton. "We want our restaurant to offer the highest in quality and customer experiences. Our team will help us determine what's going to make the best possible experiences for Edmontonians," says Lemire.
With easy access for shoppers, area businesses, and commuters on the way home at the end of the workday, Plow & Harvest promises to offer a truly unique concept in dining, including locally-sourced comfort foods, craft beer and wines. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available. Wesley Littke, Plow & Harvest's Red Seal Chef says, "It's an unpretentious environment that's focused on the community aspect of great food being presented well. It's fresh-casual - not fast-casual, and it's going to be a great place to meet with friends for lunch or dinner, or take the family for a meal."
Plow & Harvest is a fresh-casual eatery located at 10041 170 Street in Edmonton. Seating 210 people and open daily from 11 am, the restaurant provides quality, locally-sourced menu items and focuses on providing exceptional guest experiences.
