The Best Employers study is conducted by the Queen's Centre for Business Venturing, the Queen's University School of Business and Aon Hewitt. It is eligible for organizations that have operated in Canada for at least three years and have between 50 and 399 Canadian-based permanent employees.

Over 134,000 employees were surveyed as part of the 2011 Best Employers studies.

The 2011 study marks the 6th time the Best Small Medium Employer study has been conducted.
