Abdool Z. Karim manager of the Regional Processing Centre Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre recently published a study in Healthcare Quarterly Vol.12 No. 4 2009 on the Getinge 88 Turbo Washer Disinfector. They concluded that this innovative technology increased productivity by 30%, reduced their water consumption by 7.7 million litres annually and had a positive impact on their employee morale. Over $340,000 is being redirected to patient care as a result of transitioning to the Getinge 88 Turbo Washer Disinfector. The senior management team of Getinge Canada thought it was important that the company as a whole be a role model for disaster relief and third world support. To that end, a new sterilizer was donated to the St. Joseph's Health System International Outreach Program (Hamilton, ON) for use in Haiti . The sterilizers at the sister hospitals in Haiti were destroyed in the quake. Within the next 2 weeks, a sterilizer is being shipped with other medical supplies to Haiti . One of the company's technicians, Dave Gardner , has volunteered to fly to Haiti to install the sterilizer, to train local people on how to be first responders and provide applications training.
