GUELPH, ON, Aug. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - We are pleased to announce that the selection committee for the inaugural GFTC Food Safety Recognition Awards has been finalized. GFTC has brought together a diverse group of food and beverage industry leaders to evaluate nominees for the 2012 Food Safety Recognition Awards.
The committee's backgrounds, accomplishments and experiences reflect the diversity of the food and beverage industry in Canada. In announcing the selection committee, President and Chief Technical Officer, Frank Schreurs, stated, "We are delighted these exceptionally talented and experienced individuals have agreed to be selection committee members for the GFTC Food Safety Recognition Awards. In creating this awards program, we seek to recognize Canadian individuals and companies who embody the high standards of food safety. I am confident our selection committee members will bring their extraordinary knowledge and understanding of food safety and the food industry to that goal."

The submission period opens September 1, 2012 and nominations will be accepted until September 30, 2012. Award recipients will be announced at the 2013 GFTC Safe Food Canada conference.
