Wendake, QC, Sept. 10, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - After several weeks of reflection, Chief Ghislain Picard today informed the Chiefs of the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec-Labrador (AFNQL) of his intention to seek and obtain his nomination as an official candidate for the Assembly of First Nations' National Chief Office.
In his statement to the Chiefs of the First Nations of Quebec-Labrador, Chief Picard had the opportunity to express his deep appreciation for the unwavering support of the Grand Chiefs and Chiefs over the past 22 years at the AFNQL table. "I am privileged to have served the interests represented by all the Chiefs around the table. This is what I have gained as experience. The wisdom you have shown as leaders within our region will certainly guide me in this desire to serve the interests of the diversity represented by more than 60 Nations across the country", said Chief Picard.
The election will take place at the AFN Special Chiefs Assembly in Winnipeg, on December 9-11, 2014 as per unanimously agreed by the AFN Chiefs in Assembly in Halifax in July 2014.
