MUNICH AND TORONTO, Oct. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) Systems Canada Inc., the Canadian subsidiary of global security technology leader G&D, announced today the opening of a new Personalization Bureau in Montreal, Quebec. The new Bureau will offer increased regional support and efficiency for existing and new customers within the province. It will also play an increased role in supporting the convergence of smart chip solutions for EMV, mobile security, transit and government solutions for driver's licenses, health, and identification.
In a year that celebrates fifty years of Creating Confidence in banknote printing and processing, payment and identification for the Canadian market, as well as 160 years globally, G&D is well prepared for this investment and expansion of trusted services to people and businesses in Quebec.
The new Personalization Bureau is another key G&D investment in Canada, following the opening of a new state-of-the-art facility in 2006, installation of the first North American TSM hub in 2008 (Markham, Ontario), and the significant investment required to support Canada's migration to EMV and highly secure ID products. To date, G&D has issued over 125 million credit and debit EMV chip cards to Canadians and continues be the partner of choice for the provinces of Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia for their ID-related needs.
"Considering the emerging changes in how we will use smart chip technology day to day, as well as the rapidly evolving mobile ecosystem, it is a perfect time for us to be here in Quebec," remarked Edgar Salib, president and managing director of G&D Systems Canada Inc. "As a native of Montreal, I appreciate the distinctiveness of business and culture in Quebec. We look forward to contributing to growth in the province with our trusted services and expanding our regional and global expertise."
The facility in Dorval, approved by Visa, MasterCard, and Interac, will service existing clients as well as provide the necessary provincial palette for a variety of evolving solutions in secure identification and mobile ecosystems. In preparation of this investment, G&D has been cultivating and training a team of local specialists dedicated to extending G&D's performance in mobile security, transit and government solutions in Quebec. G&D is a trusted partner of governments worldwide, offering a wide range of high-security services and solutions in over 32 countries, including ID, corporate access, plant engineering, security paper, and features.
