TORONTO, Nov. 15, 2012 /CNW/ - Gilles B. Legault, Senior Counsel, Global Legal Affairs at CN, has been elected Chair of the national Board of Directors of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC), effective October 2, 2012. LLSC is Canada's largest voluntary health association dedicated to fighting blood cancer. LLSC is affiliated with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the United States, the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer.
As a volunteer, Mr. Legault has served in several capacities with LLSC, including vice chair of the national Board of Directors, co-chair of the national Research Grants Committee (2012) and member of the Audit Committee. In Montreal, Mr. Legault served as Corporate Walk Chair for the Light the Night® Walk 2010 and is currently Chair of Montreal's Leadership Committee for Light the Night®. Amongst his responsibilities as Chair, Mr. Legault will preside over meetings of the national Board of Directors, work to establish and implement strategies, goals and objectives for LLSC, represent LLSC in various public and private settings, and act as the Board's primary liaison to the President. The national Board of Directors is charged with the fiduciary concern of the affairs of the not-for-profit organization.
