The Canadian furniture and home décor retailer will partner with customers over the next month to donate over 10,000 blankets to SPCA shelters coast to coast.
VANCOUVER, Oct. 3, 2018 /CNW/ - Urban Barn, a Canadian retailer with over 55 locations from B.C. to Québec, and a mission to help Canadians feel 'right at home' is encouraging customers to help animals in need feel a little more at home with its 'Blanket the Country' campaign.
Beginning on October 5, an in-store or online donation of $5 will ensure a brand new fleece blanket goes to an animal in an SPCA or affiliate shelter. Donations will be accepted at any of Urban Barn's retail locations across the country and on www.urbanbarn.com. The 'Blanket the Country' campaign will run nationally through November 4, 2018.
"We have always had a pet-friendly culture in our stores and offer an assortment of pet friendly fabrics for our customers," says Linda Letts, President of Urban Barn. "We wanted to expand our love for animals into a partnership with SPCA shelters across Canada and spread the warmth to animals in need."
Canada is a country of animal-lovers, with almost two in three Canadians owning a pet. Despite the high rate of pet ownership in Canada, over 150,000 cats and dogs are received by shelters across Canada each year. This places a significant resource burden on these shelters, which Urban Barn hopes to alleviate with its 'Blanket the Country' campaign.
"Animals come into the care of the SPCA with a variety of different histories. Some have never felt the warmth of a blanket," says Dave Wilson, Ontario SPCA Senior Director of Shelter Health & Wellness. "A blanket is one item we use to help the animal feel like they are safe and increase their comfort level, while they await their forever home."
To further support SPCA shelters, Urban Barn will feature adoptable animals from the BC SPCA in its upcoming Holiday Lookbook.
Canadian retailer Urban Barn offers well-appointed furniture, home décor and accessories.
