Glencore receives No Action Letter from Competition Bureau of Canada for Viterra acquisition; U.S. waiting period expires
BAAR, SWITZERLAND, May 4, 2012 /CNW/ - Glencore International plc ("Glencore") today announced that it has received a No Action Letter from the Canadian Commissioner of Competition indicating that she does not intend to oppose completion of the previously announced acquisition of Viterra Inc. ("Viterra") by Glencore at this time. The receipt of the No Action Letter, which is dated May 3, 2012, satisfies one of the conditions to the consummation of the proposed transaction.
Also on May 3rd, the waiting period in the U.S. under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended, expired.
