Glentel's CEO Tom Skidmore announced as a finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® for 2013
BURNABY, BC, July 16, 2013 /CNW/ - Ernst & Young has announced its finalists for this year's prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year® Awards, and GLENTEL Inc.'s President and CEO Tom Skidmore has been selected as one of the three nominees in the business-to-consumer category for the Pacific region.
This year's awards program marks the twentieth year Ernst & Young has recognized and celebrated the most innovative and successful entrepreneurs from every line of business in Canada. The international program operates in over 50 countries worldwide. In Canada, the award finalists are chosen in five regions from over 350 nominees. The selection is based on each nominee's vision, leadership, financial success, and social responsibility.
Tom Skidmore was instrumental in creating WIRELESSWAVE in 1997 - a revolutionary new customer experience within a mall environment, providing consumers an opportunity to efficiently shop in one location and be advised by technology-savvy staff in making the right personal choice of a mobile phone, voice/data plan, and network carrier, complemented with exemplary service. From opening the first WIRELESSWAVE mall store in Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby, BC, Tom's vision, foresight, and inspirational leadership has never wavered over the years as he has forged GLENTEL into new retail markets in Canada, the United States, Australia, and now the Philippines. In Canada, GLENTEL markets nationally through its marquee corporate brands WIRELESSWAVE, WAVE SANS FIL, Tbooth wireless, la cabine T sans fil, and its retail managed brands WIRELESS etc… / SANS FIL etc… at Costco and Target Mobile / Target mobilité for Target Canada.
"At GLENTEL, we are very proud that Tom has been recognized as a finalist in Ernst & Young's prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for the Pacific Region. Together we celebrate his nomination," said Jas Boparai, GLENTEL's Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. "The success and growth of GLENTEL has been in direct correlation with Tom's vision, passionate leadership, and social responsibility."
The category award winners will be announced on October 4th at a gala held in Vancouver at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The overall winner will then represent the Pacific region at the national awards gala held in Toronto on November 27th, 2013.
