TORONTO, Sept. 23, 2016 /CNW/ - Global celebrated another homerun last night as 1.1 million viewers (2+) tuned in to the premiere of new series Pitch. Starring Canadian-born Kylie Bunbury as Ginny Baker, the first woman to play in the major leagues, the rookie drama was the most-watched series of the night among men (M18-49 and M25-54), also stealing the 9 p.m. timeslot as the #1 series in all key demos. Pitch swept its timeslot competitor by 35% (A18-34), 63% (A18-49), and 51% (25-54) more viewers than CTV's new entry Notorious.
Global also took over Twitter last night as Pitch became the most-talked about series with the hashtag #Pitch as a top trend in Canada. As fans continued to buzz on social, audiences continued to grow on-air. Pitch saw its audience increase over the course of the episode by 29% (A18-49) and 24% (A25-54), and 17% (2+).
Next week on Pitch, airing Thursday, September 29 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, Ginny attempts to fit in with the team, in spite of a sexist comment Al made about her years ago resurfacing. Meanwhile, Mike comes to terms with the mortality of his career and the end of his marriage, and Blip deals with fallout from Evelyn defending him to the media.
Viewers who missed last night's series premiere of Pitch can catch up on GlobalTV.com and Global Go.
Premiere week continues on Global tonight with the series premiere of MacGyver at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the season premiere of Hawaii Five-0 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
