Please join Mayor Valérie Plante, hockey legend Guy Charbonneau and Montreal Olympic icon Nadia Comăneci in spreading a message of kindness on May 10, 2018
MONTREAL, May 1, 2018 /CNW/ - Global Montreal is excited to announce the second annual Greater Montreal Day on Thursday, May 10, 2018. Greater Montreal Day encourages everyone from across the island of Montreal and beyond to perform random acts of kindness and post their good deeds on social media with the hashtag #GreaterMontrealDay. Two social media postings on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook will be chosen at random to receive $1000 for a local charity of their choice.
It doesn't take much to make a big difference. Good deeds can be as small as buying coffee for a stranger, donating to a local food bank or holding the door for someone at the Metro station. Among those supporting #GreaterMontrealDay this year are Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante, hockey legend Guy Charbonneau, Montreal Olympic icon Nadia Comăneci, TV personality Vanessa Grimaldi and MSO conductor Kent Nagano.
"We were thrilled with the response we got from Montrealers for the first Greater Montreal Day, so we are beyond excited to bring it back for another year," said Karen Macdonald, News Director, Global Montreal. "On May 10th we are happy to support our friends and neighbours and highlight the many ongoing efforts that make our city a greater Montreal."
Viewers will enjoy exclusive coverage of #GreaterMontrealDay, starting with Global News Morning at 6:00 am, followed by Global News at Noon. A special Global News at 5:30 & 6:30 p.m. will feature the day's highlights, showcasing citizens who are committed to making our city a greater Montreal.
