Global Petroleum Show 2012 poised to be largest ever
Premier Alison Redford, Provincial Ministers, Governor of Oklahoma and industry leaders gather in Calgary for biggest oil and gas show to date
CALGARY, June 11, 2012 /CNW/ - Global Petroleum Show (GPS) 2012, the meeting place for the global oil and gas industry and one of the largest industry trade events in the world, kicks off tomorrow June 12, 2012 in Calgary at Stampede Park. Held from June 12 - 14, GPS will bring together more than 60,000 registered attendees from 95 countries to explore more than 700,000 net square feet of exhibit space featuring over 2,000 exhibiting companies showcasing the newest in emerging technology and the world's greatest outdoor display of equipment.
GPS opens at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 12 and will gather oil and gas professionals from around the globe, including high level government officials and international delegations. Countries represented include Bolivia, China, Colombia, India, Kuwait, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and USA, among others.
"GPS in 2012 has expanded exponentially since last held in 2010," said Wes Scott, Executive Vice President of dmg :: events, organizers of Global Petroleum Show. "We have created new structures to accommodate the demand for exhibits, and are showing a 30% increase in registration of attendees. We are extremely excited to host attendees and exhibitors from around the world in Calgary at this important event."
Premier Alison Redford will welcome delegates, exhibitors and attendees to Global Petroleum Show at the Opening Night Reception on Tuesday, June 12 at 7:00 p.m. Taking place at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre in Hall E of the North Building, the Opening Night Reception will introduce authentic Canadian activities such as curling, hockey and more to international guests. Premier Redford will also give the Opening Keynote Address at the International Energy Leaders Forum, a feature new to GPS 2012, on Wednesday, June 13 at 8:10 a.m. The Forum will discuss a variety of timely and relevant topics including global supply and demand, technological innovations, and socio-political landscapes. A media scrum with Premier Redford will take place after her keynote.
Honourable Ken Hughes, Minister of Energy will be in attendance at the International Energy Leaders Forum on June 13 at 9:20 a.m., participating in the panel discussion. Also in attendance will be Governor Mary Fallin, Oklahoma's first-ever female governor, who will contribute to the panel session as well. A media scrum with Minister Hughes and Governor Fallin will take place after the panel discussion at 10:00 a.m.
Global Petroleum Show 2012 runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 13 and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14.
Media will be required to obtain a show badge for the exhibition and will need to provide accreditation (a piece of photo identification and an official business card) upon arrival at the Press Office (sponsored by Sanjel Corporation, a specialized energy service company applying over three decades of experience and oilfield knowledge), located in Room 101 beside Hall D in the BMO Centre.
