Global Rockstar: National Preliminaries Enter the Final Straight
Acts from 124 countries are already taking part in the world's largest online music contest
VIENNA, Oct. 2, 2014 /CNW/ - The national preliminaries for Global Rockstar 2014 have been taking place for the last month. A participation record has already been set: music acts from 124 countries have applied for the world's largest online music contest. The act that will represent each country in the final will be determined by means of a public vote: this will run until 4 November. What is new is that fans can also vote via mobile devices: Starting today, the new Global Rockstar app for Android and iOS is available to download.
Christoph Straub, CEO and co-founder of Global Rockstar: "Although we expected a tough competition based on the many enthusiastic responses, the level of participation is exceeding our high expectations. We are particularly delighted that Global Rockstar knows 'no borders'. Songs from 124 countries - from Armenia to Mongolia and Zimbabwe - have been submitted. Many artists sing in their national language, which also makes Global Rockstar stand out from other music contests."
Fans have until 4 November to vote for their country representatives
Music acts can continue to apply until 15 October by uploading a video. In order to make the mobilisation of their own fans easier, Global Rockstar has recently released a Facebook app which makes it possible for them to embed the profile in their own channels. Fans decide who will represent their country from 6 November 2014 in the "Global Finals" and thus have a chance of winning the main prize of USD 25,000, or equipment from AKG by Harman with a total value of USD 10,000 for the top three acts. Fans can vote until 4 November - either free of charge via social media or via "ROCK'N VOTES", which are acquired via donations. Half of the proceeds will be passed on directly to the respective artist. The winner will be announced on 20 December 2014.
