TORONTO, Sept. 16 /CNW/ - Last night, Global's reality TV lineup outplayed the competition as the premiere of Survivor: Nicaragua, debuting in its new Wednesday slot, won the night nationally and in all key markets. The 21st season of Survivor kicked off the evening with 2.5 million loyal fans (2+, national) making it the highest rated play of any series on Canadian television since Glee's spring season finale.
Continuing on the momentum of its lead-in, Big Brother concluded its hugely successful season with 1.7 million viewers (2+, national), peaking at 10:55pm with an audience of 2.4 million as Hayden was crowned the winner. A perpetual fan favourite, Big Brother has also been a ratings topper all summer long with multiple episodes consistently landing in the Top 5 each week.
SURVIVOR: NICARAGUA 8PM DATA HIGHLIGHTS (All data Adults 18-49):
- 1.3 million viewers in key A18-49 demo
- Going head-to-head, Survivor came out on top in this battle of reality, outperforming its closest timeslot competitors, the finales of Citytv's America's Got Talent (1st hour) and CTV's Master Chef (1st hour) by 75% and 122%, respectively
- Won its timeslot in all 3 metered markets
BIG BROTHER 9PM DATA HIGHLIGHTS (All data Adults 18-49):
- Was the #2 show of the night nationally, second only to Survivor
- 1 million viewers in key A18-49 demo
- Finished the season with 39% more viewers than last summer
