Global youth leaders put the power of "innovation.insight.inspiration." to use in their business presentations at Junior Achievement's Next Generation Leaders Forum
HALIFAX, Aug. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - Almost 150 of the world's top youth leaders gathered at Saint Mary's University this week to learn what it takes to be successful in business and life at Junior Achievement's Next Generation Leaders (NGL) Forum. The theme of this year's Forum was "innovation.insight.inspiration." and encouraged youth to solve real business challenges, to gain further insight on the world of business, and to be inspired by business and academic leaders.
The NGL Forum concluded today with the students using their innovative spirit and knowledge to develop ideas for the Ultimate Business Challenge. The students presented their ideas to a panel of judges on how they would use the Irving shipyard project to develop the ultimate business. The students developed comprehensive business plans for their innovative companies, which would bring employment and economic opportunities to the Halifax region.
Junior Achievement is pleased to announce that the winning team for the Ultimate Business Challenge is Creadux, which developed a proposal and plan focused on commercial and residential development. Other teams' ideas included an HR outsourcing company, an educational institution for non-mainstream trades, and an infrastructure consulting company.
"The goal of the Next Generation Leaders Forum was to allow students to face real business challenges and develop strategies in collaboration with their global peers," said Lynn Coveyduck, President and CEO, Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia. "The Ultimate Business Challenge presentations showed that students were more than up for the task. Their innovative ideas were a true reflection of the amazing leadership of these students."
