TORONTO , Dec. 15 /CNW/ - From red carpet glitz to a slew of returning fan favourites and all-new series, Global Television's primetime schedule keeps getting hotter in 2010.

It all starts with the 35th Annual People's Choice Awards on Wednesday, January 6 - 9pm ET /PT. Known for bringing together a gamut of Hollywood heavyweights, People's Choice is the only awards show that gives fans a chance to vote for their favourites in music, movies and television. The multi-talented Queen Latifah will host the live telecast.

Later that same week the Mark Burnett-produced project Shark Tank premieres on Friday, January 8 - 9pm ET /PT. The new, biting reality series follows aspiring entrepreneurs as they pitch their business ideas to a panel of ruthless investors in hopes of landing an investment in their concept.

The high-impact action continues as 24 makes its much-anticipated return with season 8. The special two-night, four-hour premiere begins on Sunday, January 17 - 9pm ET /PT and concludes on Monday, January 18 - 8pm ET /PT. The suspenseful, award-winning series starring Canadian Kiefer Sutherland is back with new plot twists that will bring a whole new meaning to national security. Subsequent all-new 1-hour episodes will premiere Mondays - 9pm ET /PT starting January 25 .

The red carpet excitement heats up again with the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. Lauded by critics for its style, simplicity and genuine warmth, the SAG awards make their Global debut on Saturday, January 23 - 8pm ET /PT. The unique ceremony will present 13 awards for acting in film and television within a fast-paced and entertaining two-hour live broadcast.

There's no time to cool down as Kitchen Nightmares returns with season 3 starting Wednesday, January 27 - 9pm ET /PT. Temperatures rise as tempers flare with Chef Gordon Ramsay at the helm of quality control. And for two weeks leading up to the new season launch, fans can join Chef as he revisits the restaurants from previous seasons starting on January 13 .

The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards rounds out the amazing month on Sunday, January 31 - 8pm ET /PT on Global. Music's biggest night honours excellence in the recording industry with this year's spotlight on frontrunners Beyoncé and Taylor Swift , while Canadian singer, songwriter and poet, Leonard Cohen will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

In addition, all-new episodes of the critically-acclaimed series NCIS, NCIS: LA and The Good Wife continue on Tuesdays starting January 5 ; The Office starts up again on Thursday, January 7 - 9pm ET /PT; on Sunday, January 10 , The Simpsons celebrate their 450th episode at 8pm ET /PT followed by a 1-hour 20th Anniversary special at 8:30pm ET /PT; Bones returns in simulcast on Thursdays - 8pm ET /PT starting January 14 ; and last, but not least, House, Canada's No.1 show returns on Monday, January 25 - 8pm ET /PT.

Fans can also look forward to the return of reality smash hits Survivor Season 20 and Celebrity Apprentice Season 9 in February 2010 and on Sunday, March 14 , respectively.
